Greg Dunn Mandolins for Sale:
This is the second mandolin I built and it was also based on a Stewart McDonald A5 kit. The name on the headstock, “Raydoris”, was used as a dedication to my parents. The first two mandolins I built were branded “Raydoris” and I have since changed to Dunn Mandolins.
Asking Price: $1,800.00
Finished and set up:
Body closed: March 2011
The sound and backboards of A5-02 were hand-carved and graduated by myself to blueprints from a vintage mandolin.
The tone, volume and timbre of the mandolin is good due to the fact it was hand-carved with great care. It is a very playable mandolin, with a few minor cosmetic faults in the lacquer finish.
I hand-stained the sunburst finish after taking the Smirnoff Mandolin Luthierie course in California in July 2012. There are eighteen coats of gloss nitrocellulose lacquer on the mandolin, buffed on a guitar buffing arbor.
I am offering for sale at a reasonable price for a hand-crafted custom mandolin with great tone, volume and timbre.
